Marco kicked off his career as a software programmer in ’95 during the COBOL and FoxPro era. Over the years progressively moved into IT Administration, IT Management, IT Security & Strategy. During his various positions within the IT arm that led him to the role of CIO he has planned and deployed numerous IT projects locally, to establish KPMG’s local digital infrastructure and also led a number of large-scale deployment projects across other KPMG countries.
He spearheaded a number of IT due diligence projects and led the IT stream during the acquisition assignment of one of the top software development companies in Malta, followed by the establishment of their IT infrastructure and the adoption of KPMG’s standard IT policies, procedures and processes.
Information Security is another area which he worked in for more than 18 years, starting off with the initial adoption of KPMG international policies and procedures and moving on to leading the field and establishing himself as the go-to entity across a number of KPMG jurisdictions.
He has now joined the advisory team bringing to the table a new service offering to the market via ‘KPMG Software’. This tech company offers expertise within the software development field across the whole project life-cycle powered by a team of developers with decades of experience in various areas of software development such as desktop, mobile, embedded systems and web.
Marco is now leading KPMG Software towards a shift into emerging technologies such as Blockchain, IoT, AI & Machine Learning, and Intelligent Automation. Joining alliances with other disruptors, the team has commissioned a number of PoCs using these technologies to prove their applicability and invaluable benefits being derived to those bold businesses taking the plunge.
